    A joy
I can always count on this podcast for a joyful listen even when they talk about some super serious wine news! Love the dad jokes.

    Episode 65 Wine and Music
Talking to plants was introduced in the 60’s and 70’s, so playing music to wine should affect wine too, from smooth jazz to acid rock. The amazing life of plants involves the taste and texture of wine. Discussions with Sheri Hood, Courtney Taylor-Taylor and Jay Boberg were entertaining and mind bending. Another cast by the Four Top that stimulates the taste buds of your mind.

    Informative, Great conversation, Good Finds
Love the podcast - great format with multiple guests (different each week). Very conversational which makes for an easy listen. Content is also rich in that it isn't recycled information you frequently hear in other places. Unique content, fun, with great variety around food & beverage.

    Yum!
Loved the discussion about "American" food and what that really means today. I remember being in Italy several years ago and craving peanut butter! Surrounded by all that wonderful food and all I wanted was a good ole' PBJ 😉 In my opinion, American food is diverse and that is what makes it so wonderful. Great podcast!

    Episode 62 American Food
A pleasant round about conversation of food in America with in depth historical references and bits of unknown food trivia.

    Delicious!
Whether you consider yourself a foodie or just like to know what you're eating, The Four Top is for you. It's a great introduction to some of the best and brightest minds in the culinary world. Even better, it's clear how much knowledge, passion, and expertise everyone involved in the podcast has for the subject material. Highly recommend!

Not about food in any real sense
Podcast is geared to upscale women in the Pacific Northwest. Focus is hardly national. Food is just an excuse for marketing panelists and the host's interests and grievances.

    Love this!!
Katherine does a wonderful job of including diverse voices and topics that hit home for so many here in Portland. As a young woman looking to get into the food/beverage industry, it’s amazing to hear all the interesting things other people are doing to make the industry more innovative and interesting! 10/10 would recommend this podcast, one episode and I was hooked!

    Insightful conversation and topics
This podcast has really come a long way and I have loved watching the journey! I look forward to a new episode each month. Ep. 60 is so insightful and I loved hearing from each panelist as a woman in the beverage industry. More of this please.

An okay food podcast, very just okay
As an avid food podcast listener I enjoy shows based in LA, Chicago, New York, etc and find them delightful, even when they do local subjects. This Portland based podcast would likely best serve the folks that live in that awesome city. I really tried to keep with it, but after listening to Episode 60 (host needs work, better editing, coaching, better, smarter questions...something) and though I liked the guests, the locals might glean more out of it just because they’re local, because the show lacks polish and just didn’t engage my interest.
  • A world apart
    Increasingly local
The current episode is a good example: it's all about the host's economic interests, albeit they are wrapped in a global blanket. Worrying about the effect of climate changte on vineyards is like worrying about the quality of champagne when two-thirds of the world lacks clean drinking water. A national (?) food and beverage podcast that ignores the death of a man whose fearless travels brought food into our living rooms from all over the world? A national (?) food and beverage podcast that ignored the 2018 James Beard Restaurateur Awards, none of which went to Portland based entrerprises. The show is less an exploration of food and beverage culture than it is a celebration of its panelists egos and their deification of Portland as the epicenter of innovative cuisine, a self-anointed accolade if ever there was one.

    Infotaining and nutrilicious
The Four Top is my favorite podcast. Katherine Cole talks to interesting people about interesting things related to beverage, food, restaurants, and living. The unique format is like joining a dinner party with engaging insightful conversation. It's fun and informative. I especially admire how the topic of at least one of the courses always has social, envirionmental, or political educational value. For oenophiles I highly recommend Katherine's books about wine as well.

Great For Non-Foodies and Foodies Alike
I'm so glad I found this podcast! I'm by no means a foodie, but love learning about wine. I love the variety of food and beverage topics the podcast covers - fascinating.

    A show to savor!
Every episode feels like an intimate, warm conversations between four knowledgeable, thoughtful friends who just happen to know everything about the intersections between food and culture. The Four Top doesn't require a foodie predisposition to be enjoyed, but it definitely satisfies my culinary curiosities! I love the way it places the world of food and drink within a broader context; it's not just about food, but about all the behaviors, emotions, and thoughts that make it such an essential, fundamental part of life and human connection.

Good round table (no pun intended)
I listen to the Serious Eats podcast and The Eater Upsell. The hosts of those podcasts tend to insert themselves into the conversation too much. This has a nice balance that covers a broad range of food issues, and because there are no "celebrity" chefs (so far) the discussion is less ego driven.

    Great podcast!
I found this podcast after reading that it was nominated for a James Beard award and thought I'd give it a try. I have found the episodes to be engaging, fun and informative; and while the participants are clearly well-versed on the various topics of food and beverage, they don't take themselves or their topics too seriously - in other words, I have found the episodes to be well researched and smart while also being relatable, accessible, and not at all stuffy. A great find!

    Clued-in, hype-free talk about food
It's hard to make a panel show scintillate, but The Four Top does it. Katherine Cole brings in smart, down-to-earth people who really know about food and beverages -- not just on the professional/haute-cuisine side, but on the domestic/cooking and nutritional, environmental, and political sides. This show, alongside other food podcasts like Gastropod, shows once again that food is a lens for EVERY other issue.

    Funny and engaging

    fast-moving, engaging foodie talk
This show is a great way to get up-to-date on what's happening in foodie culture and the nation at large. Even if you aren't the type of person who watches The Food Network or reads culinary magazines, you will find The Four Top interesting if you like to dine and drink out and follow current cultural trends.
