Great interview! Great podcast! More of this.

Great way to start the news day
I really enjoy the pinpoint way the topics are addressed and the delivery. Keep up the good work.

    Clear Liberal Bias
Competent reporting but overly one-sided view.

    Hope
I hope with the drying up of your financial resources through USAID and George Soros I don’t have to listen to this nonsensica drivel anymore.
  • DeeWhizzle
    Every episode is liberal propaganda
Nonsense liberal media propaganda. They no longer just tell you the news without their liberal opinions. Now every news story has a liberal democrat agenda. Complete nonsense that has been proven to be false by independent podcasters like the NO AGENDA SHOW, Russel Brand, & others!
  • Vidalrick
    Great morning starter
I love the podcast, so well done and to the point. I don’t start my day without it. And I’m loving the few initial seconds when they are preparing for starting the show and the funny banter, please continue with that and with the good work!

    Up First - propaganda machine
The worst preshow banter ever. So boring. I HATE that is stupid, biased show so much. Conservative, complicit reporting. The pandering to Israel is so gross. Israeli propaganda machine!!!!!!! I have listened to NPR regularly for 20 years and have appreciated having Up First to listen to... HOWEVER, I’m giving this podcast one star because of its total neglect of featuring important LGBTQ news stories. For example, yesterday the Trump administration erased transgender civil rights protection in healthcare!!!! Are you kidding me?!?!?!? This is HUGELY impactful in the most negative, hurtful, debilitating way. This president is stripping away trans rights right under our noses and Up First keeps silent about it. ALSO, this last week two transgender women of color were murdered, Riah Milton & Dominique Rem’mie Fells. Up First has nothing to say about it. I am wildly disappointed in you Up First.

    Good summary of the headlines
Please stop the chit chat at the beginning of the episodes. It’s annoying and makes the episodes seem less professional

    Proper journalism
I prefer my news with experts and no propaganda. NPR has real journalists and discusses real issues.

    Banter
Your banter is giving me hope these days in the midst of all of the tragic news. Thanks!

    Always come back
Greats hosts. I am especially loving the first few seconds of banter between hosts. It is what I need to start the day with a well-rounded informative news bit. I halt all news on occasion and always come back for Up First.
  • Miller Svoboda
    Fascinating!

    Propaganda Training
We listen to this podcast daily on our way to school to discuss how to detect propaganda, bias and how highlighting different angles of the news is used to frame stories for certain narratives. NPR has become so obvious and blatant in their bias that we often laugh all the way to school. You’re to need to work harder to not let your disdain for ordinary Americans show, it’s bad.
  • Ajax0012
    Very left leaning
Just another left leaning news podcast. My favorite was on 23Feb25, they did a hit piece on a conservative father where a father and a son did a bet of 10 things in 2024. They didn’t even talk about what the 10 pieces of the bet were… lol

    Some problems
LET AYESHA ROSCOE DO AT LEAST ON INTERVIEW instead of scott doing 3 every week, its not even alternating. try to look at this comment, come on. Also, theres a little bit too much bias whenever its concerning trump. LET AYESHA ROSCOE TALK MORE. Stop only let scott talk. its very annoying
  • JavSol
    Negative comments are a joke!!
Good content that it is easily verifiable. Keep up the great work. All those haters in the comments simply don’t understand how to consume news, unless it is “parsed and analyzed” by the “experts”. And of course it has to align to they way of thinking or political leaning…. I think Fox I waiting for you over at their “news shows”

A True American Standard for Authentic News!
There are several indispensable morning news podcasts I turn to. Up First is always Up First. Love the format, the broadcasters and content. Always a little smarter having listened to the daily broadcast. So happy to have a Saturday edition to wake up to.

    My first listen every morning
5⭐️ changed due to bias. Now 2⭐️ but I will listen in hopes you get better. Super helpful and informative summing up of all the important news stories of every day. I can’t fill my brain with stressful news all the time but I like to keep up with what’s important and Up First helps me do that. Edited to add that the anti-Israel slant crossed a line today when you said the act of sending a body other than Shiri Bibas was a mixup and saying the babies were slain but it wasn’t clear how. Both are blatantly inaccurate. The boys were brutally strangled and then beaten to try to make it look like an ISF strike had killed them. Do better!

    Screeching Voice
I cannot listen to Ayesha Rascoe’s screeching voice on the weekend. She does not have a voice for radio. What idiot decided to put her on. I can understand why the listening numbers for NPR continue their downward spiral.

Host are enjoyable. But not surprising completely one sided in the delivery of the news.

    Opening banter needs to go
This is a note to the producers to remove the frivolous intros as a lead-in to very serious news. On 02/20, the hosts talked about their sleeps habits before launching into a story about bodies being returned to Israel. This isn’t YouTube, it’s NPR.

Short Form Left Leaning Biased News
It’s wonderful hearing short formed summaries of the news around the world, but the left leaning bias is so obvious that it makes me concerned with the validity of the information being provided. Starting to sound like propaganda rather than “news.”

This gives a quick summary of the news. Of course some will find fault, but I find it reliable and can go elsewhere for a deeper dive.
  • i <3 you
    Good content, annoying banter
Don’t love the banter at the top of the show. Up First is supposed to be a succinct news briefing to start your day, and wasting time with awkward banter at the top is cringey.

    Less opinions, more facts please.
I’d love to get back to the neutral reporting from 2023/2024.

    such a good one
The joy the cold openings bring of A joking around is unmatched. Legit such a good start to a then researched and informed and true podcast, amazing!!

    CFPB budget
Great reporting again, “CFPB has a relatively small budget” the reporting should continue with the actual number of the budget… thanks for providing spin but not actual facts.

    Chat bot as human
Don’t use it if you don’t want to. Story over. It’s a software that tries to be personable but isn’t perfect. Appreciate it for what it is, not what it isn’t. You’re better than this NPR… or are you?
  • Kris-Indi-Mo
    Thanks
You all do a fact-filled, (and fact checked) comprehensive update in a short amount of time, helping me Feel informed since I can’t get to a newspaper! A, love your demeanor! You make Me smile. I am not a morning person, and love to roll my eyes at those chipper early birds as they chirp morning greetings! 😜

    Non Biased News
As a moderate I find the fact that they are non biased refreshing. There’s so many reviews criticizing the pod for being too liberal, but others criticizing the softness on the current admin. I honestly think it’s refreshing to just hear the news. If you think it’s bias you’re the one looking for an echo chamber.
  • HazFish
    Complicit
NPR expertly normalizes Trump. Steve Inskeep is the worst of the bunch. Find myself having to quit multiple episodes due to lack of critical reporting of the new administration.
  • crhoton
Sick of bias. I just want the news!
I’m have been trying to find a news station that covers the NEWS without the bias. This is definitely NOT that show. Steve Inskeep in particular cannot keep from every side jab possible and drags politics into everything. He smears every story with his opinions and political views and it is exhausting to listen to.
  • msbusyteacher
    Teachers
Updates on student test scores should also include the decline in attendance, larger class sizes, lack of resources, lack of parent support and other factors. This reporting makes it sound like it’s the teachers’ fault for kids not making progress. Please give teachers more credit!

    Great summary
Love that is concise, entertaining, and the hosts make it interesting. Great reporting on many topics.
  • Jacob and Jamal
    Long and drawn out
Every time I think I’m gonna get back into this podcast, I’m reminded why I stopped listening. The host will beat a dead horse on the same topics. The show describes itself as a wrap of news that’s important, to start your day. But in fact picks a story, and goes on, and on, and on. And the topics chosen and how they are discussed, clearly have some bias in them.
  • KLBITNGWQ
    Sorry to be leaving
I feel sad writing this because I’ve listened to NPR since college. I keep running into the same issue: the podcast (and NPR in general) feels one-sided. The tone often leans in a particular direction, and they seem to avoid stories that might challenge left-leaning perspectives. It’s frustrating because I think the show has potential. If they made more of an effort to present all sides of an issue and include topics they currently leave out, it would be a much stronger, more trustworthy source. Be authentic, trust that your listeners are smart people. Present both sides and let them decide the truth for themselves. I think the Daily from NYT does a fair job at this.

    Kissing the ring
NPR is the same as Morning Melons Mikaboo and Beaker Scarborough, kissing the ring on the orange hand. I used to love NPR and now it is ridiculous. Would be nice if one news organization would have the spine to speak truth in these times!
  • Zach_85
    Liberal agenda bias
I still try to listen to Up First a couple of times a week but I have to discern between the liberal bias of the podcasters and the actual facts in the news. It’s sad NPR wasn’t founded on political bias.
  • Jrrpakdhensoandnfjsp
    Once Venerated
Up First was once a reputable program that maintained strong objective standards. But that has all changed. Like ABC and company, NPR is kowtowing to fascists. The anchors stated that Biden’s blanket pardoning of his family in the face of political prosecution by a mad man soon to be running the FBI harmed democracy before downplaying Trump’s pardoning of violent criminals and sec traffickers. NPR might as well brandish the red armband. They share no attributes with those objective independent news orgs during the third reich. They are compromised.
