    A wealth of information
I’ve listened to this show for years and Eric has addressed many issues and struggles I’ve had from building and setups to finishing. Very helpful, concise and descriptive advice from a real pro.

    Awesome!
If you have any interest in guitars at all, how they work, how to modify them, fix them, set them up right, then this is a podcast you cannot do without!

Must-listen for guitar techs and players both
Fantastic podcast that draws on decades of knowledge and experience. He gets into the minute details here. Also Eric’s voice is fantastic, if that matters to you, which to me when picking podcasts to stuff in my ears, it kind of does.

    Informative, entertaining, and encouraging
Eric is massively experienced and straightforward and Melissa is masterful at keeping the thread of topics on track. Both are engagingly genuine and constructive people, so there’s loads of help, very little criticism, and, always, a positive and inviting spirit to the show. Eric is deeply knowledgeable and focused on what works, and while he will respectfully respond to the obsessions, mythology, and “deep dive” arcane questions listeners may sometimes ask, his emphasis is always on what’s most important, really works, and gives tangible results. He has a gift for delivering ideas through straight talk based on experience while accepting that others may have their own (sometimes way wrong!) convictions. Listeners love Melissa for many reasons, but notable for me is her genuine curiosity, her own interest in how things work, and (while she is modest) what turns out to be a really considerable talent for helping produce and direct each podcast. Their two personalities work amazingly well together, and the bits of family stuff that pops up is always enjoyable and never overdone. Good stuff in lots of ways!

    Great show
Very informative show and actually hilarious at times when Grandpa allows Melissa’s “12 year old” humor to make the occasional appearance. Seriously, Eric is a super knowledgeable “guitar scientist”and breaks it down so the rest of us can understand. Always look forward to new episodes.

I discovered the Fret Files back in 2016 and quickly listened through all the past episodes and have been a dedicated listener ever since!

Go here first with your questions
Eric Daw is a guy who knows things from experience. Don’t go to the forums and ask a pack of know-nothings like yourself!

A must listen for all guitar lovers

A goldmine for guitar tinkerers and pro techs alike!
Just discovered this podcast and wish I had done so years ago! I’ve been tinkering on my own guitars for awhile, getting braver trying my hand on new repairs and mods and upgrade as I live in an area of the Midwest where the nearest reliable tech is at least an hour’s drive away. So I’ve started investing in myself via tools and books and time to look things up online and try to learn, and Eric and Melissa’s show is just the sort of supplement and encouragement I need to go further! It’s like auditing a master class every week. Thanks!!

    Best Guitar Builder/Repair podcast
Great bits of information about building and repairing guitars from a seasoned professional. The dynamic between Eric and Melissa is also great! I listen to a lot of different podcasts and this instantly became one of my favorites!

    20 minutes in...
20 minutes into the first show, and I know I’m going to love this show.... I will be binge listening, so if you still see the 5 star rating by mid-May 2018 on here, you’ll know I loved the show as expected, and did not have to edit my rating or review.. Give this one a try if you love guitars.. ESPECIALLY how they work and how to repair them.. The show runner repairs them for a living... :) He has my dream job...
  • Roz_99
    Great show!
I’ve been building guitars as a hobby for three years. I read all the major books and listened to some other podcasts. Eric and Melissa have become like virtual friends, filling knowledge gaps by providing insights into the eccentricities of guitar making, maintenance, and repair. Thanks friends, and keep up the good work!

The Best Guitar Podcast on the Planet!
This is a great podcast that provides a wealth of information related to guitar building and repair. Eric and Melissa Daw are very entertaining hosts. If you are interested in getting into guitar repair (or getting better at it) or just want to know how guitars work, I highly recommend this podcast.

    This podcast rules!
I found Eric and Melissa's podcast a few months ago and Im slowly working my way backwards through the backlog and I cannot stop listening! Eric is full of knowledge and wit and the two play off of each other in a way that makes it very easy to keep listening. Ive learned so much since I started listening and since then Ive done things to my guitars (successfully) that I wouldnt have dared to attempt even a few weeks ago, including a fret leveling and crowning on a Silvertone that went extremely well and its given me the confidence to go even further and Im going to do the same for the rest of my guitar collection. Which includes two 'top of the line' Harmony guitars. If knowledge in guitar building and maintenance is what you seek, then you have found it! Just listen! You wont be sorry! Thanks you two! 🤘🏻😃🤚🏻

    Eric is so entertaining
Podcast about guitars, repairs, construction, tone, etc... If you like playing and have any interest in why things sound the way they do or how guitars work you will love this.

Amazing advice, information and guitar talk
Eric Daw is widely renowned in Seattle and the Northwest for his guitar expertise and repair acumen. I have literally flown to Seattle with guitar in hand to have it looked at by this 20+ year veteran. Recently he began the Fret Files Podcast. I am not a guitar tech or repair person, and have little interest in becoming one. Outside of changing my strings, tightening loose screws and the like, I am nearly guitar helpless. However, I learn SO MUCH from every episode of Fret Files. I am gaining confidence to the point where I feel I may be able to do some simple guitar tech tasks, as well as learning about some of the much finer points of guitar repair and craft. Whether you are a player of fretted, stringed instruments or more of a woodworker/craftsman or both... I strongly urge you to expand your base of knowledge with The Fret Files Podcast.

    That's Info-tainment!
I've trusted Eric with the maintenance of my guitars for almost 10 years, and I proudly own one of his Pin-Up Custom Guitars. He's a master craftsman, terrific musician, and an all-around fascinating individual. Listen up!
