ultramaficThe best gaming podcast out there. The best wargaming podcast ever! Can’t be beat. My review from a few years ago was so misguided.

SimpultinThe BestThis is probably my favorite podcast: history, gaming, humor, and the right amount of off topic banter. The hosts are funny and genuine. They will poke fun at just about everything, including themselves. They also aren't afraid to express an opinion. At its best, it's like joking with gaming friends over a couple of beers. Sure, I'd rather be gaming with my friends but it's Sunday night and I'm doing the dishes. Listening to Advance After Combat is the spoon full of sugar that keeps me chuckling while I do.

TeusdudydydhI was only going to give it 4 stars......but the the 5th Star was a bonus. It counts just like the other four stars, but it’s a bonus star.

bgodleyGive/Take a Shot12 step program to stop listening or the hosts need to go on a 12 step program. You decide. I had a much longer review planned but am in search of the perfect Negroni. Gee thanks, Jason.

July 21stWhy are the episodes only 2.5 hrs long? The hosts, Doug & Jacob, clearly know their adult beverages. I’ve also learned so much about ballet and how to deal meth and simultaneously be a realtor! With work, could be one of the best Euro game podcasts! At least there is no EBay quiz.

CarlThere's a podcast?Question: Think back... what are your top 5 favorite (or memerable or forgetful, as the case may be) episodes? Use whatever criteria you want.

Uncle John 2020There’s a podcast? This isn’t the podcast you’re looking for. Trust me. Move along. The 8 hour episode retelling the Star Wars saga in Klingon showed the hosts’ clear lack of understanding of neutronian physics. Hard pass. Can’t wait for the next one.

Cologamer25Hands down the best!Look no further. This podcast on war games is the best you will find. War games, military history quizzes, and straight up good guys!

B_MarkellIt’s like Car Talk for wargamingNo one listens to Car Talk to learn about cars. It’s an entertaining show because of the banter between the hosts and guests. That’s the reason to listen to Advance After Combat also. Looking for up to date wargaming news? Wrong podcast. Looking for incisive wargame reviews? Wrong podcast. Looking for a podcast with laser-focused content? Definitely wrong podcast. A majority of the hosts will be at least tipsy and more likely drunk, sometimes to the point of being incomprehensible. A majority of the podcast will be spent talking about wives, children, and the challenges of modern life. A majority of the listeners wouldn’t have it any other way. I haven’t listened to an episode of Car Talk in years. I never miss an episode of Advance After Combat.

SluggonicsHours and Hours of Scripted BrillianceWhat it lacks in technical polish it makes up for in volume. Not for pearl-clutching clucking hens or humorless martinets. Recommended for insomniacs, the underemployed, gambling addicts, obsessive-compulsives, fans of fine pens, and those recently fallen off the wagon.

tank jasonAdvance after combatI really enjoy the wargame content on this show, as well as the quiz, and the “garbage time” (banter) . I can relate to the hosts and have similar interests as them. They give a war game a “beer rating” so you know how many beers you can consume and still be able to play it.

pschorfI once was lost, but now am foundThis podcast literally changed my life. 5/5 stars. Will listen again.

History on the TableThe best. The only podcast that I listen to while I massage my wife's feet.

jedo72A Podcast about drinking, oh and wargamesMeandering, sloshed, and irreverent, so it’s great.
-
catgh2000It aint polished, but that is the magicI love this podcast, they are not afraid to be who they are. I love the fact that it isn't polished up in post production. I find the quiz to be interesting most of the time and any rating system that considers beer comsumption as a measure of success for reviewing games...

ThisKidGotMoxieAwesomeA drinking podcast with a wargame problem.

Luft-Flak-VierlingSad to see Marshal goMarshal was a good balancing act/entertainment value. Once he goes it tends to really drift (Also almost 3 hour episodes? Really?) I have zero problems with the language but listening to folks drunkenly stumble through reviews gets old after awhile. Oh well. C'est la vie, its free take it or leave it. :)

tsnoufferWhat you want a wargame podcast to beThere are a few things that make AAC a standout podcast for the wargaming crowd. . . First, you can really tell they actually play the games they talk about. I’ve run into others where a “review” is simply an unboxing. Not here. Second, AAC has a the right balance of light and serious. Like the social aspect of gaming where you’re shooting the bull with your buddies in-between turns? You get that feeling with AAC. Like a dissection of rules and design decisions? You get that here. Great mix of the light and the serious. The other thing I like is they don’t spend much, if any, time rehashing industry news. Most anyone who makes it this far is already in the know with BGG, CSW, and Kickstarter. They don’t wast my time telling me something I already know and knew it a month ago. Kudos!

Braxton462Unedited, Unscripted and Uncensored = Real Guys Having FunDon't listen to this podcast if you are offended by profanity, drinking, and debauchery. If you aren't a prude and like to hear regular dudes have some fun and talk about games they are playing or have played, LISTEN. If you are a prude, DON't try to make this podcast something it isn't. I LOVE this podcast because it is reality media at its best. There is no script and no rules. I relate to the content and to personalities. I feel right at home. THANK YOU AAC for keeping it real!
-
Dice All DayThe noise-to-content ratio doesn't quite work hereFor every actual discussion of a wargame, this podcast offers a hefty serving of profanity and unfocused rambling, much of it about the hosts' love of drinking (which often takes place during the episodes). I've tried to listen to every episode but most often wind up being put off by the strangely angry tone and the need to fast forward through passage after passage of unedited horsing around in the hopes that wargame talk will take front and center.
-
Par3sR BadGoing to miss MarshallReally enjoy their discussion of "real" boardgames. I think Marshall will be missed. He brought a lot of personality to the show.
-
KataskicanaGreat PodcastAn excellent mix of personalities. Nice to hear people talk about wargames. That doesn't include Twilight Struggle :)
-
LucasBrooksIt’s Great! This is my favorite wargame podcast. It comes out every month. They have great taste in games. It’s funny, relevant, and entertaining. They do talk like adults, but so do I, so I appreciate the candor. There is also an active guild at BGG, so if you enjoy the episodes you can interact and keep the conversation going.

GrognardletExcellent Podcast!I have never reviewed any podcast but want to review AAC because I want to encourage others to support this podcast so it keeps going. I listen to all the current wargame podcasts and like them all for different reasons. However, in terms of the games that are talked about, this podcast is the best. They talk about many, many recent games and even the occasional weuro game. They talk about games covering all time periods and all genres. Other podcasts fail because they either focus on old games from the SPI/AH era and don't appeal to new wargamers or they focus only on the handful of the podcaster's favorite games and never introduce players to the current hotness. The Advance After Combat guys buy and play lots of new stuff and they talk about them in both passionate and knowledgable ways. Anyone that can just jump in to World at War has got to be borderline genius/insane. They are experienced wargamers who try out lots of different games. They are to blame for my purchasing many games I had not previously heard about. These guys are good and I hope they keep producing new episodes. I look forward to each episode. Be advised that the podcast is marked as Explicit for the occasional language and off-topic content. For some, this is not a big deal although my personal preference would be to find a way to tone down the language without losing the great casual back-and-forth rapport the AAC guys have. This little thing might be the only thing keeping AAC from becoming THE wargame podcast for the hobby in the modern day. Thanks for sharing your time and passions AAC guys.

ByzantiumFilthy LanguageThe filthy language is continuous and jarring. Just time and time again. No need for it. Burping included too. I probably missed the farting. The crudeness and juvenile nature just overwhelms any content.

Falkon00Keep The Drinks Flowin'This podcast was great fun to listen to. There is something magical when you put guys together with a little alcohol and let them talk about a subject that they love. Pure Gold! I liked that even though the podcast was about wargaming reviews etc, there were sidebars with funny stories that were easy to relate to. I enjoyed it very much and can't wait to hear more. Keep em' comming!
-
Darth EnusOne of the Best!A very entertaining wargame-focused podcast by three gentlemen who certainly know their subject matter well. These are the kind of fellows you'd love to have living 10 miles down the road, ready to dive into a 25-page rulebook, push counters around until the wee hours, and talk trash the entire time. I hope this podcast sticks around.

Hawkeye313Feel good podcast of the yearAs a wargaming noob, I think these guys do a great job of describing the games and game mechanics. Their sense of humor is excellent and I just kept laughing at Marshal. Keep 'em coming guys.
