After School Anime Club

In the 1990s, North American TV audiences were getting their first taste of a strange, exciting, new kind of cartoon - produced half a world away, and localized by small teams on shoestring budgets, at the behest of networks desperate to capitalize on a trend they could no longer ignore: Anime.Join three anime fans on a trip back to the time before cell phones, high-speed internet, and streaming TV. We'll play games, watch unique and way out-there shows, and do our best to recreate the feeling of waiting for the bell to ring so you can run from your last class to the next meeting of...The After School Anime Club.

    Great Anime with Greater Hosts
Anime podcasts are great! This is proof of that! Thanks for making a wonderful show

    An old weeb's dream
You had me at Tenchi Muyo. I've been needing people to talk about my generation of anime with, and in the absence of that, listening to you guys scratches that itch. I'm also continuing my campaign to get the Utena movie bonus episode. Do it for an old man, please? =)

    Love it
Excellent podcast, reminds me of the early aughts and religiously watching Toonami after school. AOL, AIM, my sister’s Furby never shutting the f*k up. Blockbuster was a successful business. A simpler yet decidedly strange time to go through puberty. Nu Metal was mainstream. Limp Bizkit. Emo Blink 182. Weird. You get it. And that’s why I love this podcast. Usually there’s excellent insight into some anime I guess that’s good too.

This show is a CILJ (club I’d like to join)
Great, lovely hosts making a fun show that feels like hanging out with good friends. The unique game show element and succinct, quality recaps of the material watched really makes it stand out from other anime podcasts out there. There may be No Need for Tenchi but you need to join the Club.

    Wonderful Podcast!
Funny and charming hosts, with great production quality! They have a great rapport, give fantastic commentary, and I also really love the little trivia games that they create to play in each episode. A must-listen!

    Serotonin and Nostalgia
This podcast tickles all aspects of my lil brain that produces good brain chemicals to keep existing through my day. AMVs, fun games, sounds that activate the nostalgia part of my brain, funny jokes, and so many Ryokos. These three and their guests are incredible- I would give them my last pocky box and bottle of ramune on earth without hesitation.

    AAC is bangers only
AAC is one of the best discussion and recap shows I’ve listened to — the hosts have great chemistry, and the different games thrown into the mix help keep things feeling fresh and exciting! The recaps are excellent and thorough, and the commentary makes me laugh. Great show all around. :)

    Good, it turns out!
I still have the same GameBoy Advanced SP that’s in the artwork for this podcast, and that makes me feel called out for some reason. BUT ASIDE FROM THAT, the show’s good! I don’t feel like I’m necessarily missing out for not watching the show being covered, and the group dynamic is entertaining to have funneled into my ear holes.

    A Fun New Show!
I feel like I at least tangentially know one of the hosts on Twitter, but don't let that complete lack of certainty inform the star rating because here's what I'm sure of: This is a fun show! Haven't seen the anime in question, but will be looking it up later because it sounds like it's right up my alley! I laughed a lot and there's a vague suggestion of a structure to the show that was very enjoyable as well. Check it out!
