I just finished the first story of Jenifer Faison and Spencer Herron. When interested in a story, I research diligently. I found that many people, both men and women, were “disgusted” (highest shared word) by how Jenifer questioned the victims and spoke about them, as well as some victim shaming under the guise of empathy and making peace. I myself thought the opposite and was surprised people thought that about her. I thought she was truly empathetic, healed, and seemed like she didn’t hold any anger in her heart for the victims. Then the story continued and I came to realize what they had all realized. She constantly spoke about how she forgave these women, feels for them, etc., but blatantly obviously still holds anger and even some blame towards them. I think she was a women who was so blinded by love that she didn’t want to believe that love was faulty. I think she knew something was up but didn’t want her “perfect marriage” to end, so she simply turned the other cheek, and made herself believe the delusion that everything was wonderful. The “friend” victim said she very obviously saw how Spencer was with other women, and other comments by other victims pointed to the same thing. That means it was obvious to people outside of the marriage that he wasn’t faithful, which when one is cheating to such a drastic extent, with so many women, OBVIOUSLY people are going to be able to notice at times. You mean to tell me someone outside of the marriage noticed, but his own WIFE didn’t see ONE single thing that ever made her question him internally? I don’t think so. The only way that could ever possibly happen is if someone is in true denial, thus creating a delusion of a perfect marriage, perfect husband. I know this from first hand experience. To further my point, the way she still speaks about “Spence” (still using his pet name after all of this, and more) and is being passive aggressive towards certain victims with too many examples to write down, it shows people how she’s actually feeling versus what she’s saying she’s feeling. It’s anger. It’s internally hurt, passive aggressive anger. I truly hope she eventually does find real peace and that she can let go of that anger and hurt because it will continue to eat her alive if she doesn’t. She will not be able to have good relationship if she doesn’t let this all go, and everyone deserves a safe love. I have been through it myself and wouldn’t dare make a series about it until I was truly over it, which she clearly isn’t and that is why people can see that as each episode progresses.

I had a professional betrayal and hearing these stories and the resilience of the story tellers is cathartic. Thank you!

Why was Hannah’s story an episode at all, much less a two-part episode?! Yes, it’s awful that her husband cheated on her with her best friend, but no crime was committed. Did the Betrayal team run out of stories?!

I love this podcast and it knocks me off my car. This last one that was 2 parts, what was this? Nothing outrageous or rare? I have no idea why cheating with a best friend needs two parts?

This latest series on Hannah is pure drudgery. She’s obsessed with her ex and just as insecure and sad as he portrays in his “fictional” book. At least there was some self awareness near the end of her responsibility but hopefully she’ll move on and get over it.

Did we need 2 podcasts to let us know that someone’s husband cheated on them with their best friend. I could’ve seen that on a Facebook group with out the whole life story lasting an hour long. Come on . Also why be friends with him after that. What in the actual…

Absolutely love this podcast but the host interrupts the guest too much to say the same thing they are about to say. Please let them just talk and interject when a dramatic moment comes up.

Just because these seem rote -“rich woman/poor woman, cheated on” you have to realize that these are real people - it’s not just a story. It’s a way to let them tell their story, it’s to remind us that women’s goodness and trust and mothering seem to be taken advantage of and that is wrong and unjust. In real life women vs. men are still mostly the victims of crime, abuse, violence, and inequality. This podcast gives these women a voice.

This podcast is getting a bit too dramatic. There was a story last week when the lady said her relationships didn’t work because the men always wanted more than her and when she met the guy the story was about she said something like finally a man who isn’t a loser. And I’m like you never said anything bad about those other guys before. And ended up choosing the worst of them 🤷🏽‍♀️

It’s either a rich lady or poor one and they are always clueless.

I’m obsessed. I love the tea from peoples lives that I don’t know. It’s also like crime podcasts but without the ethical murky nature of those.

. We needed 2 episodes for us to learn that someone’s husband cheated with her friend? So did a billion other men. This was a waste of time I’m sorry.

Informative podcast which is well narrated.

Only problem with this show is it doesn’t come out fast enough! There isn’t one episode I didn’t obsess over. Such a great podcast.

I started watching this series on Hulu, then listened to the podcast series and was glad they added the weekly episodes series to tell more stories. Some episodes are not as good as others as is true for all podcasts. Some are truly heartbreaking. There are those that I want to shake and say, “That wasn’t a huge red flag or you didn’t see that coming?” But at the end of the day, people are often blinded by love and a sincere desire to see and want the best in and for others. No one deserves to be scammed, lied to, or hurt by the people who are supposed to love them.

I have always enjoyed this podcast, brilliantly co-told by the host, it feels important that people tell their stories & they can be an important warning to us all. However, the episode with the "journalist" & commander seemed like satire. From beginning to end the storyteller told us how smart she is & how her investigative journalism skills were next to none. WHAT?!?! This is the most ridiculous assessment ever. The only reason she had no clue he was lying was because she herself is such a narcissist, she is clueless to what anyone else was doing. Until the end when she clearly camped out in front of his home to see if the "slather of soap" was stuck to the same tile. What a self absorbed brag piece that episode was. I found all other episodes to be genuinely shocking & disturbing stories that happened to well meaning & optimistic people & I sincerely hope those victims have or can overcome their unfortunate circumstances & live their best lives.

Love this show but I don’t understand the episode about the student loans. It sounds like the girl had her education paid for through students loans and the big scam was that she doesn’t understand that she would have to be on the hook for them when she graduated? I guess don’t major in music? Huh?

This would be a better podcast if they didn’t split the stories up into two episodes.

Andrea Gunning is one of my favorites! Every thing she covers is phenomenal.

It’s a average podcast. Semi interesting story. The “expert” in the S1E9 episode is a moron. If you have not listened, here’s a tip: women are always the victim of grooming. They have no responsibility for their actions. If a married woman has a affair with a married man, obviously she had zero control over her body and it’s 100% the man’s fault. The weekly shows should be called: “Missed Ted Flags”. Every week there’s more red flags missed than you can imagine.

This is one of the best podcasts I’ve found!

The latest episode drove me absolutely crazy. She portrays the Mormon community as though they are all blonde haired blue eyed Stepford wives. Maybe do some research before doing podcast that broad brushes entire religions. I understand you were trying to make it interesting, but it’s just disrespectful at this point.

I love this podcast, and find the hosts narrative bits quite lovely, sympathetic and useful for contextualizing each trauma/betrayal. Thanks for sharing these stories in a respectful and gentle way.

As the story grew. I knew which rabbit hole it was headed. My son survived three cancers before age six. I understood the realities of how cancer and the treatment works. However, what struck me the most about Kelsey, besides her eloquence of telling the story. It was her reflection and her understanding of the hows and whys of what happened that really drew me in. As much as she had hurting her heart, she refused to allow hate to take over. And her ability to describe how she came to these conclusions was very well spoken, and so easy to absorb. All my best to you, Kelsey. I hope life brings you a wealth of happiness.

I wish we could hear more of the woman talking and less of the host. The you me, you me format is annoying and makes the show hard to follow. LET YOUR GUEST TALK! The show is about them, I feel like you just want to hear yourself talk.

I really enjoy listening to this podcast, while you may think, ‘how did they not get it’ I completely understand how people can make a million excuses for those they love. Don’t hate on the victims, it could happen to you.

1. Please differentiate between child victims and adult victims. I know there was feedback on the language around “grooming.” Y’all allowed adult women to place themselves on the same level as a child, which is psychological and legally so inaccurate. It dilutes the actually victim/survivors experiences. 2. Do some legal fact checking. Former USAO for Utah is wrong on the state law around CSAM production. There is no mandatory minimum for production of CSAM. UCA 76-5-402.1, 402.3, & 403.1 talk about mandatory prison sentences for the hands-on offense, not production. Utah law even provides for a lesser prison sentence under certain circumstances. Furthermore, those offenses only apply where the victim/survivor is legally defined as a “child,” meaning under the age of 14. Utah is abysmal with sentencing for sex offenses on the state side. Loads of prosecutors seek federal charges in CSAM cases for this exact reason.

I stick with it still bc I like the content (usually) but the style of the host can be grating, her sing -songy rhythm is annoying. Not sure how much more I can take. Like other reviews that one home wrecker lady who married a cheater deserved what she got and the host is playing like she was sympathetic or something. Gross.

Does anyone else listen to these episodes and think “what an idiot?” I can’t believe so many people ignore bright red flags. Yikes. Also half of each episode is ads and it’s SUPER annoying. Trying to jog or work while hitting the skip button 18+ times isn’t fun. I’ll just read the story online omg

Absolutely love the job Andrea Gunning does. These stories while are heartbreaking and sometimes hard to hear, they are done very well. I always look forward to listening

First 2 season dealt with the predators taking advantage of the ones close to them. S3 is a complete mess featuring storys of homewreckers who got cheated on… like what kinda garbage Housewives drama has this show devolved into.

The women on these episodes are not victims! Even the host trying to use sad voice doesn’t help! You marry a cheater and are surprised they cheat?? You knew they were a crook but surprised they are crooked?? Come on

There’s no subscription only content. Too many re releases it’s boring.

Dawns episode was hard to listen to. The guy who you have caught lying to you over and over again screwed you in the divorce? Ladies please.

Can’t take it anymore

This is my favourite podcast. But I’m paying for it and they keep rereleasing episodes, I don’t like that at all. An episode is supposed to come out today but I’m seeing nothing.

I’m giving it two stars because the first two seasons were so compelling. This last story was more on theme but not very interesting. It has become boring and over dramatic.

Literally on the edge of my seat, listening to Andrea and the Guest speaking about traumatic experiences! After listening to every episode, I feel thankful for my life, but I also feel aware that this could happen to me at any point. Definitely puts life into perspective and love to hear how every guest has turned their pain into power. Every interviewee delivers a story with such honesty and openness that is truly admirable.

I love this podcast, it’s my favorite BUT it irks me I pay for it and there are multiple re-releases.

To the writers of this podcast, you are starting to grasp at straws with episode 18. It didn’t even match your description of your own show.. “This is betrayal. A show about the ones we trust most and deceptions that change everything…” a lady gets her feelings hurt because she trusted a fake “influencer” in a Facebook group…. That doesn’t exactly fit the bill for your own show.
