VenoMooseBearBest True Crime PodcastIf there’s one podcast I think law enforcement and criminal justice professionals should listen to, it’s Truer Crime. Even if you’re not in those professions, listen anyway. It completely changes everything you think you know about our justice system and physical evidence.
-
Yoma32002Excellent hostI could listen to Celisia all day. Sometimes what there’s only 1 host I feel like they’re trying to sell me the story but it never feels that way while listening to Truer Crime! I happened upon this podcast and quickly followed!
-
Ms.MarbleMAmazing! What the true crime space really needsThank you, Celisia, for making a show that demonstrates what true crime is at its best: a mirror back at the culture pointing us to blind spots, bigotry and/or misjudged moments in crime history. It’s incredibly hard for those with a sense of ethics to partake in true crime narratives because of the lurid, tactless tone of so many shows that treat these stories as macabre entertainment— Truer Crime is the antithesis of these shows. The wine drinking, pro law enforcement, bigoted moms out there have Snapped and My Favorite Murder; thoughtful, curious and open minded folks have Truer Crime, True Crime Bulls**t and Media Pressure. If you’re going to partake of the true crime space, do it ethically!

Ya’all MommaJust located this GemLong time true crime podcast listener. Engaging- very good at pulling threads of stories. Obviously well researched.
-
WaterBoat16So Well DoneWell written, thoroughly researched, and engaging. I've been binging it over the past week and every story is gripping. I love this perspective on these cases, it's one much needed in true crime.
-
Dan22##PainfulI couldn’t listen long. The telling is too earnest and manipulative.
-
Ronette GuevaraA must listen!Gripping storytelling and mission-driven. Can’t wait for Season 3!

Dustin’s momNew listenerWhat a great podcast! This is my second episode and know this podcast is a keeper. So well produced. Interesting cases and the presenter is fantastic! I will be telling my friends about this one.
-
Agent_SummerAdvocation FocusThis podcast is okay. Celisia Stanton is pleasant enough to listen to, telling a good story. However, there is an advocacy-focus to many of the cases. While I don’t mind some of the wrongful convictions or justice advocacy, it isn’t something I seek out nor want to listen to repeatedly. I’d rather listen to the story and make my own judgment without the narrator pushing for me to see her perspective. It’s not a bad podcast, but depends on what you are looking for.
-
culp_carolGreat podcastShe has a great way of telling these stories.
-
smith2437Please make another season!I love this podcast. Celisia is an incredible and talented story teller and these episodes shine light on stories that deserve to be told. I really hope we get another season.
-
castersunday2110She deserves the review!!Laying here hearing that most of us don’t leave reviews made me feel like I owed you a review! Rightfully so! This show holds my attention better than 90% of the others. Keep going!!

JLL262I love this podcastThis is a great podcast, definitely one of my favorites. I just wish Celisia could do this full time so there were more episodes.
-
lblackardThis podcast is doing important workI listen to A LOT of true crime. I also consider myself to be a bit of a social justice warrior…this podcast is one of a kind. The approach to these cases is like nothing I’ve heard before. Picking apart the systems in place that allow systematic oppression and exploitation is both fascinating and horrifying. Celisia is asking the hard questions, the uncomfortable ones that people have shied away from for the last 100 years. I can hardly put into words the hope and admiration I have for this show. Keep fighting the good fight Truer Crime 🙏🏻
-
OrangepillboxInteresting POVI have listened, read, and seen many true crime documentaries and stories, and I very much appreciate that this creator offers additional context regarding the time period, location, and key societal factors, such as politics, gender roles, and racial dynamics.
-
katfishhhhheverything true crime should becelisia has an artful way of approaching these stories. she affords the victims/survivors respect without undermining their dignity. she also highlights the systemic issues which offer answers to the question that inevitably follows crimes - “why did this happen?” most true crime podcasts/shows/etc. answer this question with fear mongering and dehumanization. it’s much easier to simply call a perpetrator a monster than to analyze the circumstances leading up to a tragedy. celisia defies this norm through in-depth research, a critical and honest approach, and radical empathy.
-
Sea6nanaThank you!Just listened to Jonestown. Outstanding! Thank you for telling it so well and your commentary about the racial aspect. And the great footnotes.
-
JOYCWN6286Host and researchThe host is awesome! Very compassionate and respectful to the victims and families. She cares a lot and that’s very evident! The writing and content is pretty well researched, and always interesting. I’m a fan and I hope this podcast continues for a long time!!

-
Green AuroraEpisode 1, Season 2Really well told story, Celisia does a great job laying out the facts and keeping you engaged
-
bab001Well researched and presentedEnjoyable from start to finish
-
WhispooStaccato speech-irritatingWhy the halting staccato search pattern during the reporting? It is irritating and unnecessary. Just speak normally as you do during advertising and wrapping up the episode.
-
Max AspenGood showWell produced, written and narrated. I like that it strives to have a different conversation about true crime.
-
mlmnylaA new to look at true crimeCelisia doesn’t just regurgitate the same crime stories we’ve all heard before. She goes layers deeper. I learned so many details I never knew before about cases I thought I knew. And her storytelling is incredible! So vivid and hits all the senses to the point you feel like you are reliving a memory.
-
𝓜𝓲𝓪𝓶𝓲𝓪Great podcast!I ran into this podcast yesterday and i’m already halfway done with season one. Celisia is great! I’ve heard some of these stories before, but a lot of the details she gives I hand t heard before. Highly recommend!
-
LauraPageThought ProvokingCelisia Stanton has created a fantastic podcast about crimes and their victims. I really like how Stanton takes cases that have been in the media and breaks them down without the commitment to a 8 part series. The episode on MLK was incredible. I learned so much from it and for that I am grateful! I just finished listening to the Alice Seabold case. I remember checking out Lucky from the Library when I was a teen but I didn’t read it. I had no idea that this poor man was imprisoned but innocent. Absolutely heartbreaking! I am looking forward to listening to the rest of the season! Here to update my review!! I just finished the Timmothy Coggins case. I am weeping while I mop my floor. May he rest in peace ❤️
-
rickdossGrateful it was the first episodeI’m glad Ms. Stanton displayed her racism in the first episode before I got too deep. Is it just white women she hates or white men too?! I don’t plan on sticking around to find out.

itsmebjohn24Start listening! If you're looking for a true crime podcast that goes beyond just recounting events and truly centers the victims, then look no further. This podcast stands head and shoulders above the rest thanks to its meticulous research and the host's absolutely captivating voice – it's a pleasure to listen to, even when discussing difficult topics. What truly sets True Crime apart is the detailed storytelling. The host skillfully weaves together the narratives, ensuring you understand the complexities of each case while always keeping the focus on the individuals impacted. But it doesn't stop there. Every single episode includes a powerful and genuine call to action, making it clear that this podcast isn't just about listening; it's about inspiring change. I wholeheartedly recommend TruerCrime to anyone who wants to be informed, moved, and motivated to make a difference. This isn't just another true crime podcast; it's a force for good.

vtaylor5Love ItI just stumbled upon this podcast and love it. As a true crime fan, Celisia’s viewpoint is refreshing. Eagerly awaiting Season 3.
-
True KrisAmazing!!!I love how much research was put into each episode but it doesn’t sound overwhelming.
-
Yoga ScholarWake up!Every single crime podcast should be reporting right now on Trump’s plans to put Americans in concentration camps.
-
JakeybeanGreat PodcastI’m learning so much! Where was this history when I was growing up? It’s pisses me off that the history we learned is all about White men. Thank you so much, Celisia, for this education. It’s invaluable. (I’m so sorry about what the financial guy did to you.💕)
-
GrangerCreatorI need a title?!?I have made it a point to seek out podcasts that center victims as I have always found the true crime genre to be a bit problematic. I’m not surprised that the algorithm led me here. I have enjoyed the story telling and the thoughtful care given to each case, thank you and I am looking forward to season 3!
-
Marsh Rat hollyBegging for reviews is tackyAs a new listener being begged to leave a good review for several minutes is so off-putting especially the detail put in “how to leave a good review” … if the podcast is good people don’t need a tutorial on “what to write”
-
jules.420RefreshingGreat podcast, I appreciate that Celisia offers action items to encourage change
-
slimyfox47“All the racism in the Susan Smith case” because she said the man was black??Narrator is so biased and “woke” it’s beyond sickening. Turned off before I finished one episode . I was super interested in this story in particular. Horrible podcast.
-
PrinSaraExcellent PodcastWell written and produced. My new fave podcast!
-
LindsayKingOKCImportant True CrimeThe true crime community is such an interesting space, filled with podcasts both sensitive to families and sometimes not- but it has always been lacking the important telling of the truth about our justice system, the micro and macro aggressions facing oppressed communities goes untold and without reparation. Celisia does a fantastic job telling these stories and shedding light into the dark corners of our justice system and the flaws within it, opening up the necessary conversations that should be had to make change in our system so we can correct these problems and create a more perfect union for all of us.
-
ksmoiraSurprisedI’m surprised by how bad this podcast is! I love true crime and normally would be a fan and binge every episode. I couldn’t get through the episode on Darlie Poitier. The episode’s clear, unsubstantiated bias is offensive to the victims. Several other episodes I tried and couldn’t listen to either.
-
bingeybeckyGood-ishGood show but please cut back on the use of “sort of” peppered throughout—I stopped listening because it was so distracting.
-
CammiolmsGive us season 3!This is such a great podcast. Love it and am excited for season 3
-
Bourbongurl85Amazing PodcastCelsius brings a new storyline to true crime with a deeper dive and eye opening new facts. The most mind blowing episode so far has been the MLK Jr episode. Subscribe now.

Handymommy111Brilliant Socially Insightful True Crime StorytellingI’ve listened to much of Season 2 and returned to binge Season 1. I wish I had started from the beginning so I could fully appreciate the writing and presentation style even more! Perhaps it is only my experience - but the way Celosia weaves True Crime with the shortcomings of our society is nothing short of brilliant reminicant of other podcasts like Throughline. When you refer to serial kilers I deeply appreciate that you call out colonizers as mass murderers. Setting those ideas aside when listening to crime podcasts is so easy. Thank you for your impeccable storytelling and for giving us hope that we can impact future generations of victims and victimizers if we change society. Your work is inspiring and gives us hope for a better future.
-
Nalley06Yay! Great podcastI have been happily listening along and look for your new episodes every week. A lot of these I’ve heard before but learned something I hadn’t known before! Keep up the good work, you deserve to be successful :)
-
iTuneellenaGreat StorytellingCelisia does deep and thorough research into all the cases she presents. Not your run of the mill true crime podcast.
