Mjo701&Not just about gearIt’s so great to have access to a couple of real guys who’ve reached a high level with the instrument I love. Hearing the thought processes and common concerns is beyond valuable for anyone looking to progress their own skills.

Hdude9786Love it!I love this podcast! I’m a new listener and y’all are very entertaining and I truly appreciate all the information y’all provide. I’ve been drumming for 23 years and I’m glad to know I can still continue to learn. If y’all read this you should check out Oceans Ate Alaska Chris Turner is a fantastic Drummer, also check out Capstan, their drummer is amazing and I was surprised to learn that he plays traditional grip with the style of music they play. Anyway keep it up! Y’all are awesome!

rosie.cqGreat creative life podcast (and drumming, of course)I started listening to this podcast because I started teaching drum lessons in 2021. I never wanted to teach drum lessons, because even though I played a lot of drum set through middle school, high school, and college, and know that I am good at it, I’ve never felt like I knew enough to teach other people how to play. Some of that is because I excel more at other percussion instruments (mallets + auxiliary) and some of that is because I am a female and have had to put up with years of getting chosen second or not at all, people assuming my male colleagues play better without even hearing us, and so on. But I got an opportunity to teach at a studio and so I took it. I wanted some resources as I was figuring out my teaching style to draw from, and I happened upon this podcast. I did find a lot of advice about drumming that I have used and synthesized into my own teaching and understanding, but mostly what I found was a podcast about living a creative life, trying to make a business out of it, and everything that comes with it. And at this time of my life, I really really need this because it’s exactly what I’m going through everyday. I am so appreciative of both Mike and Eddy for talking honestly about how hard this path can be sometimes, and I think it’s great how they both have really different approaches to how they accomplish goals and lifestyles. I go back and forth between who I relate to more depending on the topic. Thanks for making this podcast, glad I finally sat down and wrote a review. Keep on making episodes, I’ll be here listening 👋🏻

dhaukaasY’all a jokeCome on, acting like you trademark the blue ice finish, totally ludicrous. Calm down, Gretsch makes it and the broadcaster for everyone. Hella childish
-
Brad BargabusBest drumming podcastHave been listening since 2021 and gone through all the episodes. They cover a wide range of drumming-related topics and other areas like preparation, technology, and social media. The dynamic between Mike and Eddy is great, both with years of professional experience. I have listened to other drumming podcast but I feel this in particular resonates with me the most.
-
Triple-CHilariously educationalThis is one of the best podcasts on the market today. Mike and Eddy have been able to take drums and turn them into a positive mental break from the everyday grind of life. Thank you for the great content guys.
-
Bald tommyGreatest drum podcast ever!!Mike and Eddy have such great chemistry. This podcast is very informative and hilarious at the same time. Mike is very passionate about teaching drums and having Eddy on the show has opened my eyes to other drums as well. Eddy brings realism and comedy. This podcast is what we need in our world, positivity and hilarity!! Keep up the great work gents!!! Tommy

Jeffrey RepoInspiring podcastJust found this podcast recently and I have been listening to it constantly. Such an uplifting podcast as a drummer. Covering great usable topics for those that are looking to grow musically on the drums. Love the honesty and transparency of both Mike and Eddy. This podcast embodies what the drum community is all about. We are all in this together to help each other grow. Thank you both for doing this. Much love!
-
MattGyvesAlways Inspiring and entertainingMike and Eddy are a great compliment to each other, with each bringing their unique style, experience and knowledge to the instrument that we love. They have a fantastic rapport, are hugely skilled musicians, great people, and I love hanging out with them on my car journeys each week.

chutingstarDrummer Life InspirationPure inspiration for all things drumming...and your daily life. This is first up in my running podcasts. You'll be laughing and learning all the way back to your drum kit...

bigmac036My favorite weekly hang sash!Mike and Eddy are what the drum community was missing! It’s a fun and light podcast that goes deep into a wide range of topics. Drumming is such a mental sport, so their insight into all of the different struggles and mental challenges that are part of learning this instrument is most welcomed. Their banter is funny and their knowledge of the industry and the instrument makes this podcast the best of the best. Can’t recommend it enough!
-
jbass524They’re like your best drum friendsLove the podcast! Mike and Eddy are superstars. They’re both always concerned about giving you information that’s useful and always take into account that listeners range from beginners to high level pros. Nobody is ever excluded because of the content or their attitude.

Funkman78Thank you! This podcast rocks! Thank you Mike and Eddy for sharing your insight, wisdom, and humor with the rest of us “drum nerds”. Well done and jolly good show, mates!
-
DaBambaArmchair Rockology?I’ve been a big fan of Mike’s for a few years and then they made a podcast! Their conversations are great and I appreciate the categories so that it’s easier to go back and listen later. A little insider information and encouragement never hurt!
-
Rod SaylorInto the minds of the true drumming communityIt’s been a minute to get caught up, as I’ve been late to the party, but after binge listening 20 episodes in 4 days, I’m finally up to speed. I so appreciate the inside look and banter between fellow drummers. The podcast touches on true issues between fellow drummers, and perfect life hacks for the best way to approach and concur the issues of today’s drummers

chrisnhoneyMore than drummingI have an hour drive to work. I decided to jump the gun and take a listen to this. Best choice I ever made. This podcast gives me that coffee pump up I need in the mornings and the relaxing massage I need to wind down in the evenings. I’ve played metal most of my life, so hearing two different style drummers complete opposite is perfect. You need to take a listen to this.

Lotechie MoInformative and EntertainingI’m only a few episodes in, and just like it. I really liked Mike from MD podcast and was a little bummed to see he wasn’t there anymore. Anyway, I like how the several episodes have taken an approach to life as a drummer, and talk about what it’s really like to be a drummer trying to be in the profession, and even how they approach topics not necessarily about drumming from a drummers point of view. Got a lot today from the Motivation topic that will apply to more than just playing drums. Anyway, good podcast.
-
Jonny KlausmeyerTwo of my favorite drummers in one podcast!Good to hear Mike Johnston is back! With Eddy Thrower too? I’m all in! Edit: I had to add that I could probably listen to these guys talk for 2 or 3 hour podcasts. 🤘
-
carterpmcleanBravoThese gents are the real deal! Absolutely love each episode.

pinkmango (ness)goosebumpsthe way I sometimes get goosebumps just listening to this podcast! Especially the motivation/inspiration episode. Definitely inspiring. Thank you guys for everything that you do! xoxo
-
Ryukyu57Love this!I don’t typically do reviews, but felt compelled to write one for these guys. Mike
-
Drew5481Outstanding!This podcast is the greatest! They cover everything I want to know about drums, AND they’re entertaining while they do it! Listen to this when you drive. Listen to this when you run. And subscribe to their online lessons for when you get behind the kit. I know I’m about to!
-
manosteel1024Best Drum PodcastIt’s about drumming but more about life. Such a good listen 🔥
-
harryhholt3Come for the drums, stay for the tangents!Mike and Eddy are two halves of the same brain. In one podcast a listener can get a technical, deep-dive into drumming and its industry but also the introspective, honest support one needs to really capture what this instrument is about. Both Mike and Eddy are captivating speakers, each in their unique way, and are easy and enjoyable to listen. And, the tangents make each episode so fun and give insight into the real depth of knowledge these two have. The best part about this podcast is everything they discuss can be applied to a life fully realized. It’s good for the brain AND heart!

eliasquinnI miss mike & mike but this fills the voidGetting me through a tough time & keeping me inspired.

mmaniaci0202@icloudThe Perfect BlendSimply put, there are not enough words to describe the incredible forces of inspiration and support projected throughout this podcast. As a self taught drummer of 14 years I've found myself at a plateau over recent months. It has made me question what the drums really are to me. Between Mikes lessons online, and this Podcast, I have found a new passion and a long term path for my journey on the drums. Mike and Eddy speak openly and shamelessly about their own endeavors throughout their drum careers. Talking about the highs and lows of where this instrument can take you, and backing it with the most positive of attitudes that reinforces the notion “Yes, you can do this!”. This podcast is just oozing with life lessons and powerful inspirational moments that are second to none. I have to personally thank them both for their commitment to not only the drums as an instrument, but to the whole of the drum world and it’s community. Top notch guys, keep them coming!
-
Plasticman95Love it!!I just discovered this podcast and is amazing! I have known Mike for a while and he is great! I don’t know much about Eddy but he seems a good guy :D Anyway is so nice to listen to them chatting about drums, it feels like I’m at bar with them after a jam session talking about what we love to do! If you are a drummer or a musician this is the podcast for you
-
TrevianHHonest and EntertainingReally enjoy the podcast! Wasn’t familiar with Eddy but he is an AWESOME co-host. Glad he curses too. Makes the show more relatable
-
stevehardingproductionsYour in good handsMike and Eddie care. And their conversations are about the challenges we all face while trying to better ourselves at anything. Notice I didn’t just say “drums”. they take enjoyment in helping and sharing their stories. And then of course there is all up close drum talk that makes us drummers tick. You feel like they know you. And want to help. Good to have Johnston back. And Great to “meet” Eddie. You will find inspiration here. Thanks guys. Rock n roll.
-
dmacc123This is the 'How To' in surviving as a drummer/musician/creative individualTwo genuinely funny and intelligent guys hanging out and talking life as a drummer. Can be applied to being any musician or even a creative individual. Real world concepts and advice fill the discussion along with humor. Everyone can gain something from listening to this podcast if you can be open and honest with yourself.
-
BigDirty840This is real! This podcast is real, and genuine! You can’t bargain for what you will pick up from this.... you will take something from listening to these professionals! Thanks Mike and Eddy
-
alex b 777Yes!!!needed to hear all of this, amazing podcast, definitely made me feel less alone as a drummer, highly recommend listening!
-
tyler.fredSo much more than drummingAlways look forward to this podcast. It’s real talk, no sponsorship cash grab. Eddy is a great counter weight to Mike in a good way. They play well off each other and really feels like it is just a discussion between buds. Even if they go off on tangents (probably my favorite bits to be honest) it always has a point. Super inspirational with focus on helping guys and gals get better. The best part, you don’t have to play drums to get something out of this. Insert whatever your passion is for drums and boom. And lastly they always have, at least for me, have some sort of profound quote that really changes the way one looks at things. Check it out hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
-
Jonathan from BrooklynMy Mew Fav Drum ProdcastGreat cross-border drum conversation! Thank you Mike and Eddie for teaming up to make this podcast. I love the balance of drum knowledge, life lessons and entertainment. Well done!
-
ScottSdrumsTrue classAmazing information from two world class players. Positive vibes in a world full of negativity! Highly recommended for anyone looking to better themselves not only as a drummer but as a human being. Plus both of their dog’s names start with a J. Tell me something more meant to be than that! All jokes aside, thank you Mike and Eddy. You guys are killing it.
-
CCMaestroTherapy, inspiration and entertainment all in one place! This podcast is a gem! Mike and Eddy do an amazing job putting life in focus. Weather you are a drummer or just a fan of real people, you need this podcast. I’ve listened to the first 5 episodes and I’m already applying the topics they discuss into my daily life and routine. I also love the bond between the hosts! It proves that no matter where you live in the world, we can all relate to each other, share our passions and most importantly support each other. Keep up the great work gentlemen!

NewuprkstatwofmindLooks to be another great drum podcast for MikeFull of helpful advice and inspiration for both life and drumming, This will be a “must listen “ weekly podcast of mine. I was a weekly listener to Mikes former podcast. This one is a different format but Im finding it compelling and entertaining too. I’m looking forward to watching the relationship between Eddy and Mike grow and how they will interact with each other.
-
NateMilli1982AmazingI take lessons at mikeslessons.com and the reason for that was that he was very passionate about teaching. I found the podcast through social media from his members page so I though I would listen and it is amazing! Two people talking REAL talk about drums and just what’s on their minds, funny story’s and they really want you to get something out of the podcast. Great job Mike and Eddy.
-
HubsticksLove it!Great to hear Mike again and liking this new guy too! Keep it going!

ortizhomeAwesome insights, the Haters episode is a must listen for all!Loved the podcast. The Haters episode is so appropriate for the current time. It is such an important topic and presented in a real and comfortable conversation. So much hate these days, love the advice of hating back. Such a simple and insightful solution.
-
somethingamissWhether you’re a drummer or notSo much more than just drums. Honestly haven’t touched the instrument in weeks because of my living situation, but Mike and Eddie offer so many different perspectives on things we all go through in life and how to get the best out of yourself. Love it, and I promise to jump back on the kit soon lol. Thank you guys.
-
johnyligonThank youThank you Mike & Eddy, in a world of negativity, we need more like this.. Johny Ligon

Nick GuidryUnbelievableAs an aspiring touring/session drummer, this podcast couldn’t have come a better point in time. Lately, I’ve been feeling highly unmotivated to play the drums because of real-life scenarios such as Covid-19 shutting down my first tour ever, graduating college, and figuring out what the future has in store for me. From literally episode one, I knew this podcast is exactly what I needed to reinvigorate my passion for drumming. Hearing Mike and Eddy talk about their experiences have really opened my eyes to what can be done, not just behind the drums, but in my everyday life. Looking forward to playing the drums again is a good feeling, so thank you, Mike and Eddy.
