Rienzi_WinchesterAmazing podcast! If you're in the Civil War, check out this fun and informative podcast! Their episode about the Lincoln conspiracy recorded at Grant Hall is one of my favorites.

J PasnikPodcast that tries to mess with the Bull and not get the HornsCWBC is a great podcast. As Darin and Mare talk all things Civil War they make you feel like you’re sitting around a tailgate chugging beers and discussing how the upcoming game will go. I recommend this podcast to anyone wanting to have a fun time learning about the Civil War and have some fun at the same time. I truly appreciate how Mare helps shatter the image of the polite Canadian with her blunt force use of profanity but still somehow comes across as a polite Canadian.

DollyS1954Halloween Spooktacular et. al.It’s a shame you use the F word so frequently during your discussions. Yeah, I’m aware “everyone” says it, but WHY? Using that word is a disservice to your guests and audience and removes whatever scholarly effort you were hoping to make. I’ll move on to a more adult podcast.

Spencer ShooterSpencer ShooterAmazing podcast Can’t believe I just found it!

RichardSnyderLincoln Conspiracy TrialBoy- I’m wondering if Lincoln was even assassinated after listening to this. Let’s pardon all the conspirators and erect statues to them all in Washington DC. And the guy going on and on about how YOU don’t know DC unless you have a top secret clearance and live and work there- get over yourself. You’re talking about 1865. For a better and more realistic handling of the Lincoln Assassination and trial of the conspirators- go to The History Things Podcast. They interview Coby Treadway - the Executive Director of the Surratt House and Museum. Spoiler Alert- Mary was in on it and got exactly what she deserved. They all were in on it and they were deservedly punished. You cannot attach your 2024 morals or beliefs to what happened in 1865.

JohnmarcusequentialBeer for breakfastThis is turning into one of the best CW podcasts on the interwebs. The biographies are what set this show apart. Very in depth summaries of the lives of key figures and less about military tactics. The banter is good, the length is great (for an evening cigar these shows are the perfect length). But I cant understand why they drink beer and remind us it's evening even though it's called the breakfast club.

TsarReedGood PodcastI thoroughly enjoy the Civil War Breakfast Club podcast. I don’t always agree with their interpretations (OO, McClellan, Rosecrans lovers and apologists!) but still informative and enjoyable. The episode on Robert Smalls was excellent for example. They do hit some points often overlooked by others. They have fun banter and a lively flow to their back and forth. I listen to them all and always learn something new. I appreciate their effort to make me smarter.

Bandits19Love it! Informative and entertaining!! 5⭐️Great podcast!
-
Videoeditor77Best Civil War podcastBar none the most informative and entertaining Civil War podcast out there. Darin is a comedic historical genius and Mare is a great host!
-
BillBlaster1Great Content, Rated R for LanguageBoth hosts really work well together and seem genuinely interested in the subject matter. I have enjoyed their podcasts, but would offer one small criticism: the female hostess, who sounds like a great person to have a beer or coffee with, should stop using casual F-bombs during the podcast. It would make it more professional, instead of casual bar talk.

Rmpasini11Highly recommend!It’s the accents.

The best LardNothing like a CWBC to start the day!Darin & Mary are a dynamic duo who capture the audience from the first moment! You don’t even have to be a Civil War buff to enjoy this show. I love hearing the tales I never knew about. The passion of the hosts is contagious. Tune in!!
-
deanly17Great Civil War PodcastI’m so glad I found this podcast! It’s informative and fun. Mare and Darrin do an excellent job of researching topics and talking about them. They make Civil War history engaging and fun, and foster engaging conversations.

Matt from PennsylvaniaPhenomenal podcastTruly enjoyable podcast, they provide little known aspects of battles that have been studied for years
-
rlk.wcNot my cup of teaToo much cursing, drinking, and silliness. Probably fine for anyone with limited Civil War knowledge.
-
TampabucsFSUMediocreIt’s fun at times, I particularly enjoy the interviews with authors. They need a southerner to balance out the massive northern bias the hosts have.
-
Live from OmahaTons of funA perfect mix of well-researched Civil War topics and lots of laughs. Tons of fun and always a great listen.
-

Mike from NOVAA fun hour with the ACWI’ve been a listener since day one. The CWBC episodes have a certain rhythm that that you get used to after a few episodes, so don’t be put off — give it 2-3. The hosts like each other, they like doing the podcasts, and they are knowledgeable. Considering that this is usually a weekly podcast, they put a s—-ton of work and research into it. The CWBC is a big feature of my Saturday morning yard work (or whatever) when new episodes drop. Considering some of the rubbish I listen to, CWBC gets really high marks.

XUCaptain85The best Monocacy Hoodie/Labatt Blue loving Civil War history nerds out thereMare & Darin are Civil War history nerds, and wear that badge proudly. They have taken a topic that to many can be boring, and made it fun. They’ve done so by just talking beers, history, and having a good old Civil War history discussion. They discuss topics and battles most people haven’t even thought of before, but do so by connecting them to the larger picture/battles we all know from the 1861-1865 time frame. Definitely give them a follow! You won’t regret doing so!
-
DANGROW!Best podcast!I love listening to this podcast weekly!! So much fun and good information!!
-
vfermMy fav!!!Best civil war podcast. I tune in every week!!
-
pod followerWell Done!I listen to many Civil War podcasts snd I’ve never written a review before, but after coming across this podcast yesterday, I’ve already listened to three episodes. Love it! Most of the time, Civil War podcasts are hosted by academics who forget that to keep an audience engaged, it should be somewhat entertaining. These podcasts take care of that. Keep up the great work!
-
CW VanDeusenFunny & InterestingKnowledgeable irreverent hosts make Civil War history fascinating —- this is coming from someone who doesn’t even like military history. Love the banter... the Boston & Ottawa accents crack me up.
-
Rover14723Slightly off the markI listened to several episodes, but stopped listening. For me the presentation style is similar to a bar conversation with a bit too much name calling and joking for my taste. The hosts are knowledgeable, but I think the content could reach a wider audience if the style was tightened up somewhat. The "sister podcast", The Railsplitter, strikes this balance between fun and education better for me.
-
RedWarrior87Great!Totally educational and so much fun! Like sitting at the bar talking and busting each other’s chops and doing some learning along the way. One of my favorite podcasts to listen to..
-
Cody C. EngdahlWell informed, well presented, super hip! These two are making the American Civil war cool again. The amount of research and detail that goes into each episode is phenomenal, yet the presentation is fun, entertaining and unpretentious. Honestly, It’s like hanging out with your two buddies who are also Civil War obsessed and having a beer. I highly recommend it, especially if you’ve always wanted to dive into this rich history but didn’t know where to start.
