peterpinkpussGood knowledge but flawed executionEdit: after listening to all of the episodes it appears they have resolved most of the technical issues that occurred in the first year. I have included my previous review below but amended my rating to reflect that they identified most of these problems and fixed them (though I would still like to hear a little more from Gillyanne and a little less from Jeremy). —//— Fans of ‘My Fair Lady’ will love this podcast, wherein a stodgy English vocal coach condescends to his singing teacher wife and business partner about her voice. Seriously though, the experience of both presenters is clear, but it’s clear that a lot of these are cobbled together from parts of webinars, classes and other recordings, often in a disorganized way and dangling just enough new information to encourage listeners to pay for the full archive, and they come across as extended trailers rather than coherent, self-contained shows. Many episodes are marred by things like: multiple-minute long sample clips repeated in their entirety (sometimes in the exact same episode) or jumping to a different subject without clear segue, context or relevance, suddenly poor sound quality, and rambling about things with no relationship to singing or speach (though, to be fair, at least there are no recaps of science fiction tv shows or superhero movies like the ones shoehorned into VocalFri podcast - why is it that professional voice teachers have such a warped view of what constitutes a professional and cohesive podcast?) And I would like to hear more from Dr. Gilliann, who is scientifically minded, humble and willing to admit when she doesn’t know something, and comparatively less from Mr. Jeremy, who states everything with absolute confidence regardless of its veracity. He strikes me as likely to be the kind of vocal coach enamored with the sound of his only voice, and who interrupts the singer every few bars to opine and bloviate the whole time. These errors could be fixed with a little more care, and admittedly i am only about 40 episodes in, so it’s possible they do fix these problems at some point, if so I will come back and revise my review.

Courageous ArtistryA worthwhile listen! The hosts are fun, informative, and touch on lots of different topics that singers can benefit from.

ComedyluverDelightfully InformativeI loved both of the SOVT episodes. I feel like SOVT is generally portrayed as a safe exercise for all without challenging how it relates to the individual voice. The episodes bring up some important things to explore and consider when it comes to implementing the technique as well as choosing what device you use. Overall I am really enjoying the episodes. Gillyanne and Jeremy continue to lift my spirits as well as my musical IQ with every listen. I highly recommend to anyone wanting to expand their vocal knowledge or are curious about the vocal process in general.
