horseygirl2222Not for meI have no idea what other people see in this podcast. The subject matters are interesting, but the hosts are so unprofessional in my opinion. Talking over each other, really just yammering on about stuff They really seem to have very little direct knowledge of. Definitely not for me. Surprised it is a Wondery offering.
-
JedicabratInteresting topicsI like the topics and the amount of work the host does. But the music added to the narrative is often inappropriate and takes away from the story. I agree with other reviewers that the side jaunts are very distracting.

mrzkatrnklove ya twoand i do adore katie codmans’ writing!

KMNewtonGood podcast, bad ads.I like this podcast, the host is laid back and the topics are interesting. However, I have a subscription to Wondery and am still hearing ads. That happens occasionally on other shows, but these ads are particularly obnoxious and are on every episode. Seriously need to review this issue.

HansmsihdxdkToughThe host literally can’t finish a sentence and is kind of a nervous stuttering mess :( love the topics but a hard listen.
-
CaptainbossySuper InterestingPart of the reason it’s so interesting is that the podcasters do a lot of research, have great expressive voices, and play off each other well. I thought there no more engaging podcasts after listening to others for 10 years, but I can’t stop listening to this one. 10 stars if I could leave them. Love my Colorado homies!

vj88773EghhFor the most part I like it or the idea anyway. I just think that if you have a script that you should stick to it. Her going off on a tangent and ranting makes it a bit difficult to stay interested. I just feel like you’re complaining. Also, she’s a tiny bit too emotional for me. We’re not here cause they’re “good people”. It’s called Seven Deadly Sinners for a reason. … I can’t do it anymore. Stop CRYING!!!!!

MinnesooooooooootaFav Sunday podcastI always look forward to listening to this podcast while I’m doing my Sunday chores. Rachel and Greg are great storytellers.
-
beans670I TriedThe topics are interesting, but I can’t get through an entire episode due to the incessant banter. I love the commentary and banter to an extent, but it was painful trying to get through a single story with all of the digressions. Save some of the commentary for after you manage to get the story out, please.

Jennabeans00Fav podcastLove love love this podcast! Rachael is just equal parts hilarious, real and the sweetest soul. Very interesting topics that are well researched and told in a very entertaining way with attention paid to the victims of the crimes too. Also love when Greg is on too! They are adorable together and a great compliment to each other.

HarborGabbyNo randos on the podcastYour bored, sighing, platitude-spewing neighbor should go back to homesteading. Not everyone you know should be on the podcast. But especially not someone who seems so uninterested. I may not listen anymore. Good topics overall but the lazy convo is no better than what I could have while standing in any suburban Starbucks line.

Sue in BaltimoreOne of the BestI discovered this podcast because I follow Nick Bryant, the amazing and fearless investigative journalist, and saw that he appeared in one of her episodes. The quality of that episode and his high regard for her work led me to subscribe and check out other episodes, and I’m very impressed. Way too many true-crime podcasts fail to contemplate the very real possibility of high-level law-enforcement corruption, sometimes even including complicity in some crimes. Unfortunately those problems are so ubiquitous that refraining from covering them compromises the quality of many otherwise-excellent investigative podcasts. This podcast does not suffer from that limitation. She follows the facts fearlessly and does excellent work. I look forward to every episode.

Amgth2sThis host is so annoyingRachel, do everyone a favor and stop interrupting Greg. This isn’t the time to show off your comedic skills (which are non-existent). Let the subject tell the story. Your constant interruptions destroy what would otherwise be a good series. Couldn’t make it through a single episode.

Purpleiris1Omaha, NebraskaI’m really loving your show…I have learned stuff about Nebraska that I never knew existed when I was growing up in western Nebraska (Scottsbluff)…and when I had to move to the big, bad, scary center of all things bad that happened in Nebraska (Omaha) for medical school in 1979-1983…I guess that my mother was right when she said that everything bad that happened in Nebraska happened in Omaha! I must say, though, that I don’t understand why anyone who has ever been sexually abused or spiritually abused would want to listen to this particular podcast, making it necessary for you to give trigger warnings as frequently as you feel are necessary…Anything, keep up the good work! I love this series!

JKKern18Great showGreat podcast and easy to listen to!

2ears4uEnjoyable!Interesting cases and easy to listen to :)

violntshagsEmotional muchI’ve tried getting into this podcast twice now and it drives me crazy how the host cries at everything. The subject stubbed a toe?? Crying….. I’m done
-
;ladskfjaoiefUgh. Greg is awfulGreg, stop interrupting the flow with inane commentary. It’s like you’re talking just to be part of the show but you contribute nothing. The stories are interesting but need to be better scripted. Rachael goes off the rails and then has trouble getting back.

Beth ButlerI’ve really triedI have attempted numerous times to listen to this podcast. I haven’t made it through a single episode without having to turn it off from annoyance. The host LOVES to talk about herself, doesn’t seem to have any sort of script or guideline to follow, and the random pauses!! I kept thinking my phone had messed up, but nope! It was just the host’s brain buffering. Seems like a college age girl who forgot she had a presentation due, so she scrambles to cram all the information in that she can before she has to do her presentation. Amateurs at best.
-
PhookahorseAmateurishThis has good info, but she really needs someone to help her with the script. She randomly pauses in the middle of sentences, which is annoying. Had to stop halfway through the episode even though it was interesting just because I couldn’t handle listening anymore.
-
betthashmeckalAbuseListen to the episode put out during Xmas 2023 about Santa Claus/Saint Nick. Rachel is so rude to her husband, in my opinion degrading him by cutting him off and not letting him speak. Same with the Chowchilla Bus case. Greg, you are being put down and abused. Good luck.
-
Burkeeeee7654321Worst crime podcast ive ever heardAll the host does is talk about herself which we clearly don’t care about. The dramatic long pauses are uncalled for. She is a horrible story teller and keeps bringing up other crime stories that we also dont care about. I dont like this podcast i give it -1000 stars. Shes a narcissist with a microphone.
-
oregon customer 2020Greg sounds like a quick add in to ride coattailsBetter show without his awkward commentary. Seems like he’s squeezing in to get some notoriety.
-
CheeseAndTrueCrimeStop. Reading. With. Pauses.I like the content but the reading is terrible. Why are there so many random pauses in the sentence? Just talk.
-
Not Tom SelleckHmmQuality content but sometimes feels like it’s edited with a chainsaw. And those dramatic pauses for no reason…you can keep that trash
-
MichelleRNWhere’s the story??Listened for your take on Leslie Van Houten and it was an hour of chatter and no report or story! Didn’t even stay on track! Would give you 1 star for this but you have been a good host/reporter .

kaliescrimsAmazingSuch a wonderful show.

themonsonsMy Woodworking AssistantGreat show added to my workshop listening rotation…we’ve built some beautiful furniture together :)

RedpinkrollarskatekathyNeeds a new host and new writers.I am sorry but these episodes cover DREADFUL subject matter but it is made even more dreadful by the host’s monotone delivery. There is no passion, no inflection, nothing! She sounds like a 9th grader fumbling through a speech with long pauses and weird pauses at awkward moments where there would be no punctuation or need to pause for “dramatic effect.” I really just thought it was because she is reading a script but, by god, she talks the same way in multiple recorded conversations with lawyers and such. It is an INCREDIBLY hard listen. I also say that we need new writers or maybe editors because it is really irritating that the host says ok here’s this clip…but before we play the clip here’s the timeline. Now here comes rambling about a timeline for 10 minutes then cut to commercial then back to the show where we continue to ramble but there oh, yes, the clip… here’s that clip that I just “introduced” for 20+ minutes and now I’m gonna introduce it for another 5 minutes then FINALLY I will play the clip uninterrupted and unedited for 20 minutes but somehow this choppy, sloppy and all around boring delivery around this subject matter is supposed to pique my interest or keep me engaged?! Nah. 4 episodes in and I either lose interest, lose my patience or lose the plot and storyline. Shame shame.

JEA2007Really enjoy this podcast!I found this podcast after listening to Deadly Diocese, which I highly recommend as well! Rachael does a great job and is able to lighten the mood with her great sense of humor without making light of the situation she is discussing. Give this podcast a listen I don’t think you will be disappointed!
-
sthubertGreat storyI have never heard this story but reminds me in some way of the Netflix show “The Keepers.” Did not rate as 5 stars as the sound seems garbled at times — especially when interviewing people. Did not like the autopsy jokes from the autopsy techs. I am sure it is funny to them but I lost my Mom to colon cancer AND we are talking about the tragic death of a man. Have some respect.
-
Megs5872Love it!!Amazing podcast! Makes me glad I left the church years ago! Well researched and very well told!
-
BrieBirdyUpdated review.Lots of cases I’ve never heard about before.. They’re Very interesting! Originally I gave it 2 stars but after listening for a while the cases she covers are just so great I can’t stop listening.

-
Geneva DeniseI tried….I keep trying to listen to this podcast because it seems like it would be interesting. However, the rambling extremely annoying. The random pauses are pretty annoying as well. GET TO THE POINT.
-
Gadzooksies!7 Deadly SinnersLove the podcast and your expertise in exposing the shysters for what they are. Been binging full seasons since discovering you. Am hoping you do an episode on Mike Murdock, whom I ran across late one night while flipping channels - prosperity charlatan who’s creepier than Copeland, if that’s possible. If Satan crawled into a body, bet he’d look like Mike.

GeumpyhistoryFunny, informative, focusedA must listen

Hi-dTaDaꨄRachaelꨄI am Really enjoying the work put into this fantastic project!! You have a beautiful voice & bring a bit of lightness to some hard core/serious subjects. I also Really like how a lot of the episodes have a first person interview on the matter. You most definitely come across as someone who put people at ease and they open up. Keep on Keeping on! I’ll recommend this podcast to anyone as well as listen to new content each week! -Heidi, N. Alabama
-
cjbc1011Worst interviewer everI have tried and tried and tried many episodes, thinking the topic sounded interesting, but so many interviews take FOREVER to get to any point, and by then I couldn’t keep listening. She uses the word “like” every 5 words…. Sorry, but I’m officially over it
-
BunnyB15Would be much better if…The content is interesting. But I can’t stand the dramatic pauses. Just speak normally. I can guarantee you don’t talk like that in real life.
-
Annuh025I love this show!! I loved the 1 hour episodesI love the show and wonder what happened to the 1 hour long episodes…. They were great why did they stop? 🥲
-
Goldylox~Just listen, you’ll love it!The show is amazing, Rachael is probably my favorite podcast host. She is funny, smart, and empathetic (when she says something made her cry or is about to make her cry, she is so genuine that you feel it along with her so don’t be surprised if you cry too!) Her research is thorough and presented in a digestible manner. Even subjects covered by other podcasts, news programs, documentaries etc. feel different and refreshed due to Rachael’s methodical and diligent research along with her unique delivery. As a solo (mostly) podcaster, she succeeds and does not need to rely on the banter to which we have become accustomed in other shows. I can (and do sometimes) listen to her voice all day. I cannot recommend this show enough, it’s great, she’s great, just listen, you’ll see.
-
G LunnGreat podcast !!A friend recommended your show and I’m a huge fan : )

sabsgalaxyLove this podcast!Rachel, you are incredible! I absolutely adore your podcast and cannot wait for the next one to come out. I just finished the one about the feral people and you asked if we want more. YES!!!! Listening to the sounds of the feral people was incredible. Please do more.

Cegeproblematic tropes, too pro-policethe analysis the host provides is often problematic-it supports racist, inaccurate tropes about crime and valorizes law enforcement, who have been proven repeatedly to lie. Meh.
