Coffee Break Swedish

82

Learn Swedish with teacher Hanna and her student Mark. Each lesson is like going for a coffee (or a fika!) with your friend who happens to speak Swedish and is helping you learn in a relaxed, enjoyable way.

Coffee Break Swedish is not a simple series of "listen and repeat" audio programmes: in each lesson Hanna explains how the language works, helping Mark - and you - to manipulate the language and use it in practical situations. As a learner Mark asks questions, and makes mistakes, so through Hanna's explanations, corrections and pronunciation tips you'll build your confidence and begin to understand and speak the language.

You'll also build your cultural knowledge with the help of our cultural correspondent Emma who shares information on Swedish culture in many of the lessons.

In the same time it takes you to sit down and enjoy a coffee in your favourite coffee shop, you can make progress with your Swedish. Our 15-20 minute lessons are perfect to keep you focused and let you develop your confidence in regular sessions.

    Practical and entertaining!
I’m a newbie learner of Swedish and I find this podcast very helpful and entertaining. I like the conversational approach and the depth at which they cover a subject. This is much more helpful than the numerous 2-3 minute podcasts out there. Thank you for providing this great resource!

    Väldigt bra podd
I am from the USA and I have been studying Swedish awhile now but I love listening to this podcast because I don’t get to hear Swedish out loud often and this helps me with listening and pronunciation. It’s informative and I love the hosts.

    Jättebra :)
Very informative and engaging podcast. The hosts are very entertaining, and I have learned a lot of stuff that no world history class here in America has ever taught me. And as a learner of the Swedish language, the Swedish phrases at the beginning of each episode help me to learn more slang and idioms. Would definitely recommend to any history buffs, language learners, or general podcast listeners :)

    Best Swedish Learning pod!
I absolutely love this podcast. It’s so easy and enjoyable to listen to and I feel like it’s helping me a lot with my Swedish. The newer episodes about Swedish culture are very interesting too! Keep doing what you are doing!

    So happy to have this!
I decided to start learning Swedish since I have Swedish family and a good Swedish friend. Yes, they speak English, but I’ve always wanted to learn the language of my ancestors. I was so shocked that Coffee Break had a series on it! I used the Italian series before a trip to Italy that helped a lot. I really like that they push your knowledge of the language and give real-life examples. Also, it’s great to have an English speaker learning along with me so I can hear common mistakes or questions we have. There are several resources for learning Swedish, but to help build my confidence and understanding, I’m really enjoying this because I’m getting an explanation of things, rather than “och” is said like “oh”. Thank you so much and I look forward to listening more!

    Jätte Bra!!
Learning along with someone is such a great way to learn a language, as it allows for questions that a non-native Swedish speaker would have. I lived in Sweden for a year, but didn’t learn as much Swedish as I would have liked. I am loving relearning the language!
