    Cycling episode
Utterly sucked way too deep and too long on cycling. Jeebus

    Average
Listened to the most recent episode and I feel like they nerd out on the facts without getting into the deeper meaning of what abramohvic warped and what it meant for others. Listen if you want to hear them basically read a news article without offering anything substantial. Listened to a couple others in the past and it’s ‘meh’

    More Joel
The Patreon is worth it for Joel’s episodes alone.

    Yet another big 6 pod
Found these guys on Twitter. Have listened to their podcast for a few months. Have never heard them discuss a non-big 6 PL team for more than 20 seconds. I’m sure the plastic American fans will enjoy
  • Gatortone2
    Great insight
Only complaint would be that I constantly have to adjust volume in my car bc Goodman speaks so much louder than Caley I find it hard to find a middle ground when listening on airpods. Otherwise I love the content.

    ENJOYED IT A LOT
UNDOUBTEDLY THE BEST FOOTBALL PODCAST AROUND

    Normally great pod, disappointing episode
I love this pod - I'm a patreon subscriber. But this was such a disappointing episode. If you didn't watch the game, you would think Man City beat Spurs 5-1 or lost only bcos they missed 10 open goal opportunities, not that Spurs clinically tore them apart by building from the back for ALL THREE goals. I know the hosts are Pep Guardiola fans, but this was embarrassing. You could probably rename this pod EtihadPod or something. Great pod nevertheless.

    Get over yourselves
If only these guys were as smart as they think they are………it’s as if they say before every episode “let’s try and talk like people who know football……. Even though we know nothing about football” they over complicate every conversation with useless counter points just to hear themselves speak. Don’t get me started on their mannerisms…… quite possibly the two worst voices AND laughs in the history of podcasting……. They also hem and haw constantly which is 1. Very annoying to listen to but 2. It makes them sound like they’re talking about rocket science…… it’s football guys.

Content is mostly good, guys are mostly annoying
So three stars for generally skippable but not an awful listen if you’re already churned through your other soccer podcasts
  • Cadubcl
    Gave up on them
Two smart, extremely annoying and arrogant guys talk about soccer and sometimes other stuff. I liked it in the beginning and then it started annoying me more and more until I just stopped listening.

Great analysis and wonderful human beings
Come for the soccer stay for the non soccer thing

    Great soccer podcast
    It’s great

    Hate the split pods
Two great dudes with terrific insights and stories, but I’m so frustrated by the continued decision to split a podcast in two and put it in two different places. Either put the pod behind the paywall or don’t. Half and half is so disjointed and unpredictable and frustrating and has lost my interest entirely, and that‘s AI disappointing for what was once one of my favorites.

    Enjoyable Soccer Podcast
Really enjoy this podcast. Also a subscriber for the additional pod. Like the game reviews and previews of big matches.

    The bomb.com
My favorite podcast hands down. Love the takes, analysis, all of it. Hope this pod gets more exposure because it’s the best tactical analysis podcast out there

Expert analysis and use of data to discuss quality of performance
Highly recommended. If you like new age stats, this is for you.

    The Best
Great analysis and focus on soccer. No dumb banter. Intelligent and insightful football analysis. My order of must listen to soccer podcasts goes; this one, Wheeler Dealer (Spurs focused), Football Ramble, then Guardian. Keep up the great work!

    Analytics are fun?
Mike and Mike do a great job of examining the beautiful game through the lens of analytics. Unlike a lot of sports analytics podcasts, they make it much less abstract and give listeners are greater understanding of the sport, both on and off the pitch

    Great content
I've been a fan of the podcast for a while, but because I flow the EPL less than La Liga and Serie A I don't always tune in. This last episode on Cristiano Ronaldo and #metoo definitely brought me back into the fold though. I have lots of appreciation for the guys tackling this issue with a great guest and great analysis of this particular case as well as the larger context. I follow a lot of soccer/football podcasts, and this is the only one so far that has bothered to address this story beyond saying "that's not a topic for us today." So thanks for the relevant content and keep up the great work.

    fun soccer nerd podcast
This is my top soccer podcast. It's fun, there's variety, and it's intelligent. Sometimes they'll talk for 15 minutes when they could have done just 5, but it's almost always worth it.

why is there so much goddamn dead air

    Disappointed
I really used to like this podcast but since they started doing subscription pods they work really hard to make the free pods average at best and leave any good stuff for the subscription pod

    Good Content, Bad Quality
The Double Pivot has good content, but terrible quality.
  • KLB, JR.
    Great show
Tremendously informative. I’ve learned a lot from this show.
  • Las12
    Insightful
It’s called the Double Pivot however Goodman is certainly the #8 while Casey is the #6. I enjoy it!
  • Diego Brosta
    Great stuff
Soccer coach slowly learning how to manipulate data with the help of these two. It’s my favorite podcast and the only soccer one I never miss.
  • Secander88
Great Combination of Analytics and Punditry
An excellent podcast that follows the important events in global football with an emphasis on the Premier League. I appreciate how the hosts use traditional punditry and analytics as complementary ways to analyze and think about the sport.

    finally got to this
I have loved listening to the more analytical discussion, soccer is rife with people talking non-analytically about the sport, so I have loved the refuge of listening to you guys talk about actual tactics rather than just ascribing differences to "form" or "confidence. Also, after having been told to leave you a five star rating and review to make you happy as podcasters for months I have finally left the review. Also, what is the virtual glass Max sits on the other side of?

Really smart people talking about soccer
Wish they'd give us some more Bundesliga talk, but what they do give us is great. Turns out you can analyze soccer without shouting things like "They just don't have enough quality! Where was the fire?"

    Great Podcast

The best soccer podcast out there
When it comes to thoughtful analysis no one does it better.

    Best soccer pod out there
incredible podcast. wish the audio production was slightly better but still doesn't take away from the great content. a must listen to if you're a soccer fan.

No Matter The Number of Mikes...
This is a good podcast balancing out tactics and analytics with listenable commentary and fan insight.
  • Theme kburrows
    Love the analysis
Smarter soccer talk. A great intermixing of sport and numbers.
  • Typical American Spur
    Great Pod
This pod has great content about world football and the perfect amount of personality and oddball content thrown in. Much better than just 100%, dry football talk.
  • NQS.
    Fundamentally Enjoyable
Really superb analysis mixed with largely my sense of humor makes the rating a foregone conclusion.
  • Passion Lads
    Great Pod
Always a good day when a new episode comes out - the two Mikes are the best
  • mntrumpterguy
    Love the Mikes
They agree a lot, but the conversations are enjoyable and the Mikes are very smart. Good analysis, evaluation, etc. one of my must-listens.
  • Finadad
Great tactical & stat analysis - please smooth out the talking
I like your analysis of games very much and I happily follow caley's tweeting. For a podcast, though, I prefer a smoother verbal delivery. Too much stuttering and half-finished sentences in this podcast. Feels unprofessional. Will still listen but would love to hear you tighten it up.

    Good American soccer podcast!
Really like this soccer podcast about mostly European football, but also MLS and US national team. There's a lot of podcasts about soccer, this is one of the better ones.
  • Chris Ashley
    My only soccer pod
Insightful, funny, and never smug about either.
  • Max the Red
Two Mikes, endless knowledge (and nonsense)
Love the show so much I trade labor for it.

    Great Soccer Analytics Introduction
Great podcast which updates me on the world of soccer and teaches me about analytics. Fun and exciting.

Audio has been hit or miss, but the content is spot on. Very Euro-centric and very technical discussions.
  • Nicephoras
    Great football podcast
Always entertaining, even for people who don't love Excel. Only potential flaw - not enough Tim Sherwood analysis.
  • Tschep
    Very informative
Great podcast - tackles soccer in an intelligent way, and it's really worth a listen. I listen to episodes as soon as they are available.

    Just start listening
Are you a nerd who wants to be more of a soccer fan or a soccer fan that wants to be more of a nerd? Then this podcast is for you.

    Best Cold Takes
Two excellent writers who have a different view on soccer than the mainstream media and look at long term trends.
  • iPat8917
Top of the (soccer podcast) Table
As an American soccer fan, it is often difficult to find soccer analysis that is not deeply moored in the European perspective (and all its attendant emphasis on culture, history, etc.). In the Double Pivot, the two Mikes have created a podcast that is accessible to all fans of the sport, while still maintaining a high level of critical analysis. Also, Mike Goodman has a real knack for articulating his analysis. His comments are insightful, engaging, and humorous. I would imagine his perspective translates well to the written word. Well enough to merit regular pay, even.

    Great!
Best soccer analysis of any podcast I have listen too. Audio production quality needs to be improved though
