    This is not The Takeout
While I used to look forward to The Takeout in its old form, after one episode, I’m unsubscribing from this new version because it is not even close to what it used to be. The show used to be a long form interview over a meal where Major Garrett would push back on a guest and fully probe the guest’s perspective on the news and life. Gone are the days” Three Core Questions.” Gone are the interviews in a restaurant. Gone is the audio/podcast first focus. Now, the show is a standard “let’s just record the TV show and release it as a podcast.” Typical panel discussions and sound-bite interviews followed by a “walking tour” of San Diego did not demonstrate that they know what they are doing for podcasts. They had something special; now, they have more of the same.

This is my “can’t miss” podcast of the week. So glad you are back, Major and Team!

I will miss you and the take out and look forward to your new podcast

    Thank you
Major, Your announcement was a gut punch. I’ll be missing the best part of your broadcast week. I have listened to every one of your episodes of The Takeout. You’ve stayed true to your mission of representing both sides of the aisle as well as bringing insight, understanding and entertainment to a vast variety topics. To simply say thank you doesn’t seem to be enough, but it will have to do for now. Looking forward with anticipation to what’s next. In sincerity, David Blocker

    The battle for Michigan
Perhaps Major should have schooled Rep. Dingle on some Middle East history? There was peace on October 6th! Hamas broke it! Hamas hides their military under and behind civilians. Their civilians getting pounded is part of their PR strategy. Can you trust the counts coming from Hamas with regard of killed and wounded? Did Hezbollah have to jump into the fray, as Israel holds no Lebanese land and does not hold Lebanese refugees. Now that they have, shouldn’t they be defanged?

Listen every week and always find the interviews informative but Neil Gorsuch was terrible. Monotone and boring.

Clean and teaches what you should know
Although the background noise of the resultant is kinda different I thought it was really cool to learn about what the different people that this show hosts have to say. I really liked the Immigration nation with author Zeke Hernandez, it definitely changed my perspective a bit with the facts of what has been happening with the border currently. I like how it made logical arguments to advocate for immigration to improve and become more efficient. I would have preferred to some of the statistics as percentages because for the facts I was most interested/sceptic about they gave the information in a way that want as clear as I would have wanted, and also could be skewed if they want to make a false perspective.

    Excellent
There is no one like major Garrett in the news industry and this podcast is absolutely interesting. Interesting with a nice mix of politics current events, food, and whatever happens to come up. This guy is knowledgeable and intelligent, great sense of humor and probably one of the last great news men since Walter Cronkite.

Great conversations with all sorts of people. I do check out on some of the Trump cheerleaders but some of the conservatives do a great job describing their views.

    A little one-sided
The Larry Hogan episode was the first I’ve ever listened to. Larry seems like a good guy and I can’t fault him for giving his honest answers! But the questions and follow-ups turned the conversation into just bashing Trump and the state of the Republican Party for an hour. And that’s fine, but it’s just the same old, same old. From browsing through the guests, it seems like the podcast has mainly liberal and anti-Trump conservative guests. If you have on more pro-Trump/mainstream Republican figures, it would actually be an interesting conversation to hear that side and their arguments. Instead, it’s just hating on Republicans with no one to represent a counterargument. And then everyone wonders why so many people still support Trump. Try talking to more of those people in a kind and open-minded way and it might help to understand their perspective.

    Good quality job
I like the way that Mr Garret handle the interviews. And I got a concern about other topic that nobody is talking about. Unfortunately many people dead and still dying as a result of the pandemia and what happens to all the properties of the deceased people like checking account properties and others belong to the pases if the surrogate court is not open and the family have to dealing with all the unfinished businesses of the deceased. I hope you can show son light in this cuz I don’t know nobody is talking about. I know is a sensitive situation but the families of the deceased have to facing anyway soon or later. Thanks in advance and keep doing a great job guys specially Mr Garret.

A visit with Mo Rocca is outstanding!
This is the first time I’ve had the pleasure of hearing Mo when he’s not “on” and we get to feel like we’re sitting across the table from him. Thanks to Major Garrett for reaching beyond the usual guests and giving us this unique visit with this multi-talented gentleman!

    The takeout podcast
I didn’t realize this was a political show featuring only Democrats. By not being forthcoming in your mission, I am ranking your show as deceptive. I originally thought this was a show about solutions but I was mistaken.

    Numbers all wrong
Just listened to Ray Washburn. What a waste. For a restaurant owner , of 46 restaurants (not what I call a small business owner) he thinks his unemployed employees are getting $24/hr when he only pays them $15/hr. Numbers are all wrong. Unemployment benefits are determined weekly by dividing earnings for the highest paid quarter of the base period by 25. Can only get up to a maximum of $521 per week. Very poor person to have on the show. Get a real small business owner.

I think the Coronavirus 101 episode may have been the best episode. Asking listener questions was a great start to the episode, and the answers were excellent and informative.

Major is a part of gaslighting
I think Major is a wonderful interviewer for the most part. Save for the fact that he allows right wing politicians to spout false propaganda as fact without challenge. He accepts their false statements as truth and without any pushback. One liar after another Jim Jordan, Scalise ( who should not have been saved by a black lesbian cop, whose rights he wouldn’t stand up for, and in fact, actively campaigns against), Crenshaw (the lyingest pirate ever) and other traitorous lying blowhards. Major is nothing but a pushover with these lying monsters.

Major tries to be and mostly succeeds..
Major tries to be and mostly succeeds in being an actual news person. It’s truly sad, but a majority of the news people today almost dismiss educated and fully informed Trump (and I emphasize Trump style) conservatives. Please stay non-biased!!! The right side of history is whatever the electorate says (votes) it is!
  • Rowdymikey
    Great content and Guests
Love the show, Major does not take himself to seriously and the live restaurant & various locations only add to the atmosphere. Plus he likes Led Zeppelin which is always a plus!

    Fair and balanced
Been a fan for years and love this podcast. Very informative with good hard-hitting questions of all guests. No left or right agenda from Major Garrett, just getting to the heart of the matter and helping the audience understand topics that are covered. Keep up the great work!!

Informative show for all political stripes
Major Garrett interviews political figures from across the political spectrum and of varying roles (senators, congressmen, strategists, and more). He asks thought provoking questions and his discussions give his listeners deep insight into the Beltway. It’s an informative and fun way to hear about what’s going on in Capitol Hill.

    What an awesome concept
I love the concept - you’ll feel like you are at the table with the people being interviewed, eating with them. It exposes the human side of people I vehemently disagree with politically and makes me more open to different ideas. Love the 3 questions at the beginning of all interviews — it really is like you are meeting someone for the first time, getting to know them. Lots of great comedic moments as well. Love it. Well done ... keep it up.

Major is a Voice You Can Trust
I love Major’s segments on CBS and was so glad to learn about this podcast. He is a trustworthy and balanced news source and this podcast expands on his reporting. I love that I can hear different voices and opinions which have caused me to reflect on, and at times change, my own political opinions. Special kudos for the goal to be more inclusive of women’s voices on BOTH sides of the aisle.
